BIOGRAPHY
Anikoon is a South Korean artist renowned for his whimsical and nostalgic works that explore the intersection of childhood memories and contemporary technology. He graduated from Hongik University’s Department of Video Media where he honed his distinctive artistic vision. His art is characterized by vibrant depictions of robots, blending elements of pop culture, animation, and technological themes to create works that resonate with a wide audience.
Central to Anikoon’s practice is his fascination with robots as symbols of nostalgia and progress. Drawing inspiration from his childhood fascination with toys and cartoons, he uses these mechanical figures as a bridge between the past and present. His works reflect on the evolving relationship between humanity and technology, incorporating bright colors, dynamic compositions, and playful forms that evoke both joy and introspection.
Anikoon has exhibited extensively in South Korea and internationally. His notable solo exhibition, One Small Step for Robot, One Giant Leap for Robot Kind (2023) at Gallery Jang, highlighted his innovative approach to storytelling through both 2D and 3D works. He has also participated in major art fairs, including the Seongsu Art Fair, where he integrated augmented reality (AR) into his pieces, offering audiences an interactive experience that merges physical and digital art.
Anikoon’s art has been featured in numerous group exhibitions and is increasingly sought after by collectors, with works presented at prestigious galleries such as Gallery MC. His imaginative creations have gained international recognition, with exhibitions and auctions held in the United States and South Korea.
Currently based in Seoul, Anikoon continues to create works that challenge and delight, exploring themes of nostalgia, innovation, and the human-machine connection. His art invites viewers to reflect on their own experiences and the ways technology shapes both individual and collective memory.
